For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage eighth and ninth grade students of Government High School in Hiregowja, Chikkamagaluru district with the project titled Tejaswi Shaale (Tejaswi School). An experiential learning platform will be created in the school premise focusing on the life and work of the prominent writer and novelist KP Poornachandra Tejaswi. Students will explore his book Parisarada Kathe focusing on three elements – observe, comprehend and believe, connecting it to their curriculum in languages and environmental science. The outcome of this project will be a performance and an exhibition in the school premise. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will include still and video documentation of the process and the performance. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research, and documentation of the folklore and oral narratives based on the collections at the Ever Living Museum. The outcomes of the project will be a comprehensive map of the travels and expeditions undertaken by Mr Kyntiewbor War – the owner and curator of the Ever Living Museum – showing the locations of acquisition and discovery; recorded narrations and associated folklore of selected number of artefacts; audio-visual recordings and updated information on the origins of these objects; and outreach programmes with community members and experts to showcase and create awareness about the living culture beyond the premises of the museum. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the audio-visual documentation of the oral narratives, the map, the documentation of the folklore, and photos and video documentation of all the programmes. This is a collaboration with the Ever Living Museum, Shillong, Meghalaya. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, workshop and stationery.
For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research and documentation towards creation of an inventory of the artefacts in the Heritage Section of the Ever Living Museum. The outcomes of the project will be a highly detailed inventory with photographs of all the artefacts in the Heritage Section of the Ever Living Museum, a website with the photographs and descriptions of the artefacts and oral history interviews of Kyntiewbor War, founder of the museum. The Project Coordinators’ deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the detailed inventory, photographs of the artefacts from the collection, a website, the oral history recordings and audio/visual documentation of the public programmes. This is a collaboration with the Ever Living Museum, Shillong, Meghalaya. Project funds will pay for hire of equipment, contract fees, exhibition, stationery, materials, website hosting and domain charges, and travel and living.
For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research, development and execution of a range of outreach programmes aimed at engaging students through educational and interactive experiences in Shillong, Meghalaya. The outcomes of the project will be a series of educational programmes under categories of: interactive workshops, guided tours and activities, storytelling, and other collaborative projects. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be photos and video documentation of all the programmes, a comprehensive analysis of the participant’s feedback and a report on the outreach programmes documenting the learnings, impact and suggested recommendations. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Workshops, Residencies, Seminars, that will create a month long technical residency followed by a week long workshop, addressing the role of the contemporary body, movement and improvisation, in theatre and dance. The outcomes of the project would be a draft performance out of the residency programme and a presentation out of the workshop that will be shared in March Dance 2024 at Basement 21. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be photographs and audio-visual documentation of the residency and the workshop. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will explore the robust spice trade that was central to Kochi’s past and the poly colonial influences that informed the history of Kochi. The project will draw inspiration from the Muziris Papyrus scrolls, the book Hortus Malabaricus, and the map of Tabula Peutingeriana and showcase in an animated form, the ancient spice trade in Kerala, the various types of spices grown in the region, and the different trade routes used to transport these spices to other parts of the world. The outcomes of this project will be a three-part animated film, a series of public engagement programmes, workshops, and a comprehensive research and documentation highlighting the cultural heritage of the region. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables along with the final reports will be a high-resolution digital copy of the film, along with a selection of images and recordings from the workshops and photographs from the documentation. This project is in collaboration with Bastion Bungalow, under the Kerala State Archaeology Department. For the Foundation Project implemented by IFA which will explore the life and work of feminist thinker, writer, educator and political activist, Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain (1880-1932), who lived across Kolkata and Patna, through the lens of virtual games to prompt conversations and contemporary interpretations. The outcomes of this project will be audiovisual documentation from the field and a digital archive. For the Foundation Project implemented by IFA which will facilitate research towards documentation and recognition of Sikki and Moonj craft forms as important practices from the state of Bihar, using the existing collection at the regional gallery of the Bihar Museum, Patna as an entry-point. The project aims to create a research-based intervention to revive these crafts through a participatory designer-artist approach to ensure inclusivity of the community. The outcomes of the project will be a knowledge bank documenting the crafts in the form of brochures, catalogues for products that artists can make using the craft forms, and samples of products developed and created. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the audio-visual documentation of the crafts, interviews of the artists, copies of brochures and product catalogues, the sample designs of the developed products with their photographs along with recordings of the workshops. For the Foundation Project implemented by IFA which will facilitate research towards challenging the traditional museum catalogue to design one or more decks of 52 cards - a kind of ‘pocket museum’ - created as a game that would be a tool for curatorial reimagination of the collection at the regional gallery at the Bihar Museum, Patna. The outcomes of the project will be these decks of cards with possible interactive screens and QR codes to aid visitors to curate their own exhibitions digitally, a reference map, and a digital rendition of the game that can be played remotely. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the set of physical cards, samples of visitor curated digital exhibitions, the reference map and the digital version of the game, along with recordings of workshops conducted for in-house curators and visitors. For the Foundation Project implemented by IFA which will explore the role that the music programmes of the All India Radio Aizawl played in the lives of ordinary people in Mizoram, amid the depressing reality of insurgency and state repression. It aims to problematise simplistic narratives and offer a more nuanced understanding of peace and progress in contemporary discussions. The project will enquire into the shared sense of community experienced by the listeners and its impact on their faith and identity. The outcome of this project will be a monograph. For the Foundation Project implemented by IFA which will explore the oral narratives around a local hero, a Veeragara, Veera Tammanna of the Kadu Golla community in Karnataka. In an attempt to understand the ways in which marginalised voices are often ignored or silenced by dominant narratives, the project will enquire into discrepancies in documentation and Veera Tamanna’s absence from the historical discourse of the region. The project will not only attempt to document the prevalent oral narratives about this hero, but also construct a new song as a conversation between him and King Ranabhaire Gowda, the ruler of the region.Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA, along with the final reports, will be the song, the monograph and audiovisual documentation from field visits.
