Grant Period: One year and six months

For an engagement with eighth grade students of the Government High School near Hommaragalli in Mysuru district to explore the various vegetables and fruits of South America that have become part of Indian cuisine. The exploration will draw from Namma Hotteyalli Dakshina America, a book written by BGL Swami. Students will be involved in preparing a theatrical script based on short stories from this book, in relation to their science curriculum. The outcome will be a series of performances. The Grantee’s deliverables to IFA with the final reports will be still and video documentation of the entire project. Grant funds will pay for an honorarium, travel costs, professional fees, performance costs, documentation costs, workshop costs, refreshment costs, material costs and an accountant’s fee.

This Grant was amicably cancelled based on reasons mutually agreed upon by the Grantee and IFA due to unavoidable circumstances.

For a wide-ranging engagement with eighth grade students of the Government Higher Primary School near Kuvempunagar in Mysuru district to learn playback theatre and its applications through texts in their syllabus. Students will be exposed to this interactive and improvisational form of theatre that will enable them to build arguments and dialogues around various themes and ideas. The outcome will be a series of performances. The Grantee's deliverables to IFA with the Final Report will be photographs and video documentation of the project. Grant funds will pay for costs towards an honorarium, workshop, professional fees, performance, documentation, travel, and an accountant’s fee.

For a wide-ranging engagement with eighth grade students of the Government High School (PUC Section) at Akkihebbalu village in Mandya district to learn the concepts and applications of intimate theatre to develop metamorphic stories based on texts from their curriculum. The outcome will be a performance and interactive sessions with students and community members.  The Grantee's deliverables to IFA with the Final Report will be photographs and video documentation of the project. Grant funds will pay for costs towards an honorarium, professional fees, travel, performance, workshop, documentation and an accountant’s fee.

For a wide-ranging engagement with eighth grade students of the Government Higher Primary School, Kukkarahalli, Mysuru, Mysuru District to connect them with the public library. Students will be encouraged to read and discover the library and their syllabus by accessing and exploring the short stories, novels, and poetry by writers listed in the ‘Further References’ section in their textbooks. They will be encouraged to develop a culture of reading by making the library a familiar and friendly space for gaining knowledge. The outcome will be a series of performances. The Grantee’s deliverables to IFA with the Final Report will be audio-visual documentation of the workshops, images, and a 10-12 minute video documentation. Grants funds will pay for costs towards an honorarium, professional fees for resource persons, travel, documentation, stationery and an exhibition, and an accountant’s fee.

For a grant for integrating 'Talk Story', a storytelling process, by which students and teachers, as learners from the first to the seventh grade, will incorporate their personal life experiences with the content of study in classrooms. This will enable them to grasp the meaning and relevance of the curriculum to their everyday lives.
