Theatre Infrastructure Cell (TIC)

This cell was closed in 2011.

The Theatre Infrastructure Cell (TIC) was set up in 2008 with support from the Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust with the objective of developing a facilitative environment for the practice of the performing arts in India. It aimed to support building information, knowledge and capacities, as well as develop projects, in addition to performing advisory roles for organisations that create or enhance performance infrastructure.

The Cell conducted a baseline study to understand the needs and demands of performance infrastructure in ten cities in India. Case studies and essays were commissioned to study a range of artists who have negotiated performance spaces in unconventional ways. Many of these studies have been published in the IFA publication Beyond the Proscenium: Re-imagining the Space for Performance, edited by Anmol Vellani.

The cell was closed in 2011 due to lack of funding.
