Film Festivals
We organise film festivals at various venues around the country showcasing films supported under our grants. We also organise performance festivals featuring stage productions supported under our programmes. Our festivals often also have a combination of films, presentations and performances.
IFA Film Festival
IFA organises curated festivals, of films funded under its various grant programmes.
Between October 8 and 10, 2010, IFA in association with the Centre for Performance Research and Cultural Studies in South Asia, organised its first ever film festival at the Centre for Media Studies, St Thomas’ College, Thrissur, Kerala. Over a period of three days, 10 IFA funded films were screened at the venue. The festival was very well received and was attended by several students of Media Studies as well as members of the public.
The second IFA Film Festival was presented in association with the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) between January 2 and February 20, 2011 at the NGMA premises, Bangalore. As part of this festival, 10 IFA supported films were screened at the venue spanning the period.
The third IFA Film Festival was presented in association with The Institute of Theatre and Film, University of Allahabad between October 21 and 22, 2011, in Allahabad. At this festival, four IFA supported films were screened over three days following an introduction to IFA and the films. Also part of the festival was a presentation by IFA grantees Shirley Abraham and Amit Madhesiya on a photo-documentation of Maharashtra’s touring tent cinemas called Tambu Talkies.
