Project Period: One year and six months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA titled Pholwen Toer (Blooming Buds), that will engage sixth to seventh-grade students from the International Educational Institute, in Braripora Bonakoot village, Bandipora, Kashmir UT, connecting them to the local histories, heritage and cultural expressions of the region. The project uniquely involves local artists practising Papier Mache and Bhaand Pather as mentors and facilitators fostering a sense of pride and ownership among the younger generation. The outcome of the project will be a public performance and an exhibition. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be photographs, the process document and video documentation of the entire project. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, printing, material, exhibition and performance.

Project Period: One year

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards production of a comprehensive illustrated catalogue for selected objects from the collection of Silver at Zapurza Museum of Art and Cultures (ZMAC) in Pune, Maharashtra. The research for the catalogue will anchor itself at the intersection of history of design, consumption and material culture. The outcomes of this project will be the draft of the illustrated catalogue along with workshops and plans and prototypes of public programming that will be executed during the course of the project and beyond that by the museum. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the draft of the illustrated catalogue, supplementary research outputs, the proceedings and audio-visual recordings of the workshop and the plans of the public programming. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, purchase of books, printing and workshop. 

Lapdiang Artimai Syiem


For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Platforms that will enable a workshop that will focus on consolidating artistic practices, resource building and envisioning collaborations in the northeast region of India. Scheduled to take place in Shillong over three days with 12 participants, the workshop will involve seminars with artist presentations, discussions and critical peer to peer exchanges. The outcome of the project will be the workshop and the building and strengthening of SNANE as an arts platform. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be photographs and video documentation of the three-day workshop along with process documentation. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, hire of venue and hire of equipment.

Project Period: One year

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards an exhibition and a catalogue essay of selected objects from the collection of Silver at Zapurza Museum of Art and Cultures (ZMAC) in Pune, Maharashtra. The exhibition will create a narrative-based scenography by looking at a select range of objects, curated through the lens of domesticity, gender, patronage and changing consumption patterns. The outcomes of this project will be an exhibition plan and curatorial inputs, catalogue essay, object notes to accompany the exhibition, detailed research notes and bibliography, an online or hybrid seminar, training modules for museum staff and prototype for on-site activities. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the photographs and curatorial notes of the exhibition, detailed research notes and bibliography, draft of the catalogue essay, the proceedings and audio-visual recordings of the seminar, and drafts of the plan and prototype for onsite activities at the museums. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for travel and living, contract fees, archive and library fees.

Project Period: One year

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards creation of two exhibitions on the artistic legacy of Pune based on the collections at Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. The project will explore how art evolved in Pune when it was the seat of Maratha rule, how the emergent visual arts and literary world influenced nationalist movement, its evolution under colonial influence and finally how it was informed and shaped by the tradition of community practices, rituals and festivals. The outcomes of this project will be the two exhibitions, draft of research essays, audio-visual documentation and a series of public programming including workshops. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the photos and videos of the exhibitions, curatorial research output, the research essays, copies of audio-visual documentation and proceedings from the workshops and public programming. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, materials, travel and living, printing, hire of equipment and workshop.

Srajana Jayant Kaikini


Project Period: One year

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research on the intellectual histories of Pune, focusing on the intersections of the visual arts traditions of Pune as well as the rich legacy of literature, cinema, theatre, musical practices and its histories of social reforms. By engaging with the collection at Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture (ZMAC) in Pune, Maharashtra, the research will explore the ways in which these objects or artifacts spoke to the historical moment in the urban and sub-urban narratives of Pune. The outcomes of this project will be the draft of research publication/s, a series of public lectures and programming and an extended curatorial catalogue created around the selected objects for online interface and social media. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the draft of research publication/s, the illustrated catalogue, the proceedings and audio-visual recordings of the public lecture and programming and the curatorial catalogue. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, production, exhibition, publication and archive and museum fees. 

Dehat Uthan and Cultural Society


Project Period: One year and six months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA titled Mera Aas Pados, that will engage fourth and fifth grade students studying at BND Public School, a school run by Dehat Uthan and Cultural Society in New Delhi, Delhi to facilitate an exploration of their cultural roots and identity through a series of multidisciplinary activities. The project attempts to foster a connection to their lived experiences in Katwaria Sarai. The outcome of the project will be an exhibition and a publication. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be photographs, the copies of the publication, the process document and video documentation of the entire project. Project funds will pay for contract fees, workshop, publication, exhibition, hiring equipment and travel and living.

Arivu Education and Cultural Trust


Project Period: One year and six months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA titled Common Man – Malgudiyallondu Mane Maadi, that will engage fifth to seventh grade students studying at Arivu Vidhya Samsthe, a school run by Arivu Education and Cultural Trust in Mysuru to disseminate the literature and creative expressions of RK Narayan and RK Laxman through a series of art activities. The project attempts to engage students with their local literary legacy and foster creativity through filmmaking, reading, writing, theatre and caricaturing. The outcome of the project will be an exhibition, a publication and performances. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be photographs, the copies of the publication, the process document and video documentation of the entire project. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, publication, costumes and sets, hire of equipment, stationary and hire of venue.

Kalai A


Project Period: Eight months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Explorations that will engage in dialogues with individuals who practice expansive queerness, creatively documenting the diverse ways in which queer trans people live and express themselves. The outcome of the project will be a creative documentation of trans, gender expansive expressions, and lives from a trans and neurodiverse lens. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be a website archiving responses from six to eight people, exploring the themes of gender joy, community building, and neurodivergence. Project funds will pay for contract fees, and website hosting.

Project Period: One year

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice) that will undertake a research into the labour organising efforts in the garment industry in Bangalore, including interviews with feminist activists, towards the making of a digital archive and an exhibition. The outcomes of the project would be an annotated archive of digitised materials, audio-visual materials, digital interface of the archive and an exhibition. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be selected materials from the archive, offline version of the digital interface, audio-visual documentation of the research process including selected interviews, and photographs of the exhibition display. Project funds will pay for contract fees, exhibition, hire of equipment, website, domain and hosting, and travel and living.
