Throwback Thursday #1 | Watch 'We Exist: Trans-ing the City' online | In Conversation with the Aravani Art Project

In an effort to take our Grant Showcases online, we were pleased to launch Throwback Thursdays with IFA last week, a virtual series of conversations, film screenings, and performances where IFA shares the works of its grantees with all of you. In the session titled We Exist: Trans-ing the City, Poornima Sukumar along with Shanthi and Chandri from the Aravani Art Project was in conversation with Sumana Chandrashekar, Programme Lead, IFA. We thank all those who joined us live on zoom and facebook.

Here is the recording in case you missed the session.

Poornima Sukumar received a grant from IFA, under the Project 560 programme for a Year-long Curated Series of Artistic Engagements in Bangalore.

As part of the project, the collective comprising of members from the transgender community hosted seven unique events across Bangalore, filling up spaces with stories from their lives, choices, friendships and connection to the city. These are tales of journeys that are ignored and silenced in our cityscapes.

Watch the recording to learn more about the project and stories of Bangalore that often remain invisible, from members of the transgender community, whose lived experiences have actively influenced and shaped the history and culture of the city.

Also, save the date for our next Throwback Thursday with IFA featuring Soumya Sankar Bose who will be sharing from his project titled Where the Birds Never Sing on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Stay connected for further updates!
