We, at India Foundation for the Arts, are delighted to bring to Bangalore, two shows of F-1/105, Aasakta Kalamanch's new play that weaves the personal and the political, the physical and the psychological, and takes you through stunning revelations of the colour 'green'.
About the Play
F-1/105 presents a story of a neighbourhood in a cosmopolitan locality, and a couple named Sagar and Mumu, with their plan to re-do the interior of their apartment by painting it green. As the story unfolds, the apparently simple job of colouring, turns into a dramatic 'event'; unsettling the couple's private space, disturbing the emotional world of the Painter from some unspecific place called 'North', and rippling through the surrounding neighbourhood.
The kaleidoscopic and darkly funny play in mainly Marathi, as well as Hindi, Gujarati and English, explores the perception of 'colour' in contemporary society by presenting shades of green. The play seeks to examine societal hierarchies and individual frustrations, within the aesthetic and cultural spheres of contemporary urban society.
About Aasakta Kalamanch
Aasakta Kalamanch is one of the leading contemporary theatre organisations in Marathi Theatre. The most defining characteristic of the group is their fearlessness to experiment – be it in form or substance. They break away from traditional moulds to create fresh idioms in theatre, and with each new play, Aasakta attempts to venture into previously unexplored territory.
F-1/105 was supported by a grant from India Foundation for the Arts under its Arts Practice Programme.
This grant showcase has been made possible with support from TATA STEEL.
