India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) seeks to implement arts projects facilitated by artists in government schools in Karnataka. This is part of the Kali-Kalisu initiative of IFA which aims to enrich curriculum and classroom teaching through artistic interventions, to create opportunities for artists and teachers to become joint stakeholders in the school community, to implement projects that will develop concrete pedagogical approaches for arts integration in school curricula.

Who can Apply:

  • Proposals are welcome from artists with or without prior experience or relevant training in arts education in government schools. However, applicants who do not have the experience of working in government schools must have worked with children / young adults.
  • Applicants should be able to communicate in the relevant local language.
  • Only Indian nationals can apply for projects.

Scope of the Project:

The implemented projects could do any of the following:

  • Bring multiple stakeholders such as parents, students, teachers, school administration and art practitioners together for an artistic project
  • Explore learning environments enriched by regional/local art forms and practices in the classroom
  • Conceptualise and put in place student-centered programmes such as an arts cell within the student community which will meet regularly to experience and explore various art forms (theatre, visual arts, film, literature, photography, music etc.)
  • Examine possibilities with the arts to sensitise and engage the school community to think about local realities such as social justice and environmental issues
  • Attempt to explore sustainable learning pedagogies of arts education in schools which can be delivered online due to the COVID restrictions

Other long-term or short-term projects that engage with arts education in innovative and creative ways will also be considered.

Application Process and Deadlines:

  • You are welcome to approach us to discuss your project ideas or send us a draft proposal for our suggestions and comments on or before November 15, 2021.
  • Your final proposal should reach us on or before December 10, 2021.
  • Your project may have a minimum duration of six months and a maximum duration of one year and six months.
  • Proposals can be submitted in KannadaHindiTeluguMarathiUrdu or English.
  • If your proposal is shortlisted, you may be requested to make yourself available for an online presentation and discussion (Date to be determined).
  • Selected projects will be announced by January 31, 2022.

Your final proposal must contain:

  • Objectives of the proposed project
  • Details of the government school identified for the project
  • Methodology and detailed work plan
  • Outcomes of the project
  • Permission letter from the head of the school
  • Detailed break-up of the budget

Budget:

  • Up to a maximum of Rs 2,00,000/-
  • The applicant can consider a maximum honorarium of 40% of the total budget for the entire project.

Please note that the total budget is inclusive of the honorarium.

Proposal Submission:
