Vaibhavi Kowshik

Vaibhavi graduated from the National Institute of Design and has worked on designs for exhibitions, pavilions and the stage for theatre. In the past year however, her focus has changed and she has been involved in the world of ‘virtual reality’ (VR), ‘augmented reality’ (AR) and mixed reality, along with education in the arts. She also runs a Community Centre in Faridabad along with her family which aims to create a platform for experiential learning through the arts for children from less privileged backgrounds.

For this fellowship Vaibhavi will work towards creating an interactive virtual exhibition, which will have both experiential visual and audio inputs. Her public programmes aim at creating common platforms through memory pods (an app/website) which will connect different kinds of communities to each other and the Centre for Community Knowledge. She plans to open up the research by reaching out to communities within Delhi, to inspire older and younger family members to archive their stories by digitising their photographs and recording their own oral histories on camera. She aims to encourage both dialogue and discussion among varied audiences to create connections to the city of Delhi. She hopes that such dialogue on the Delhi Visual Archive will enrich the knowledge about the existing archive and create the platform for newer connections with audiences.

The outcomes will include the virtual exhibition; and the public programmes will include the installation of the memory pods. The Fellow’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be process images, audio recordings, the memory pod/app activation and publication if any.
