Preeti Bahadur is an art historian based in Delhi whose doctoral thesis is on pahari ragamala paintings. By its very nature, the paintings are visual, textual and deeply connected with the ragas of classical music. Preeti will use these multiple points of entry to bring to the viewer the shared vocabulary of imagery across media – from poetry, to painting, to music. She will also attempt to read the iconography of the paintings in conjunction with the evocative verse attached to it. Preeti says that her exhibition will place the paintings in an art historical context while at the same time invite responses to them from contemporary musicians, writers/poets, theatre professionals, visual artists and other performance artists.
