India Foundation for the Arts (IFA)
invites you to
Spaces for Practice
A Conversation between Vikram Iyengar, Debashree Bhattacharya,
Srijaa Kundu and Srijaini Ghosh

Friday, October 27, 2023 | 06:30 PM IST onwards | Zoom and Facebook Live

“What happens to pre-existing choreographic structures when they meet new sites, new bodies, new contexts?” asks Vikram Iyengar. The question arises in the context of creating Spaces for Practice – safe spaces for thinking through discursive questions on choreographic practices and experiencing new ways of making movement arts. This formed one of the explorations at Pickle Factory Season 3. Vikram Iyengar coordinated a project under our Arts Practice programme, inviting dancers Piyal Bhattacharya, Preethi Athreya and Aseng Borang to lead workshops through reiterations of their earlier choreographic pieces, with participants at different levels of experiences and backgrounds. The workshops were imagined as moments of self-discovery, through open-ended conversations, and of learning through doing.

Join us to listen to Vikram Iyengar, the curator of Spaces for Practice, in conversation with Debashree Bhattacharya, Srijaa Kundu and Srijaini Ghosh, participants in different workshops. Vikram will share his curatorial process, and be in conversation with Debashree, Srijaa and Srijaini about their experiences and learnings in the workshops.

The session will also be streamed live on our Facebook page, for which no prior registration is required.
