About the SL Bhatia History of Medicine Museum, Library and Archives
The museum, located in St John’s Research Institute,  is named after Major General Sohan Lal Bhatia (1891-1982), the first Emeritus Professor of the Department of the History of Medicine in St John's Medical College. It brings alive the significant phases of the journey of medicine through a collection of medical instruments, models, photographs, paintings, and rare medical books. To know more about the museum, visit: https://sjri.res.in/health/resources

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA, Meera is working on nine short animated pieces, each highlighting a phase in Major General S.L. Bhatia’s life, which will be played on iPads around the museum. The biography is told through animated artefacts—many belonging to the Major General himself—and photographs from the museum’s collection. This animation workshop is one of the outcomes for the project.

Meera is an animation filmmaker based in Bangalore. Her interests lie in working at the intersection of art and science. She has worked with archives earlier and used animation to make films and  mobile applications for them.

Meera Krishnamurthy is the Project Coordinator of the Foundation Project, implemented by India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) under the Archives and Museums programme, in collaboration with SL Bhatia History of Medicine Museum, Library and Archives. This has been made possible with part-support from Parijat Foundation.
