Join us for an exhibition of rare photographs from the colonial era in the High Ranges of Kerala by KP Jayakumar. The exhibition highlights the ways in which photographic representations formed the bedrock for anthropological studies in the late 19th and early 20th Century British India and portrayed the indigenous communities as 'uncivilised' to establish the European cultural supremacy.

KP Jayakumar is an assistant professor at the Department of Malayalam, NSS College Cherthala, Kerala. He has extensively written on the history of Malayalam cinema, migration and socio-political movements of Kerala. Jayakumar has two books, a novel and a long list of academic essays to his credit.

KP Jayakumar received a grant under the Arts Research programme, made possible with support from Titan Company Limited.
