Join us for an evening of conversations between IFA Grantees Epsita Halder and Abul Kalam Azad with Biswadeep Chakraborty, Archivist at IFA, around the archival materials of their respective projects. They will discuss the range of outcomes; the archival memory of this material, made up of texts, audio and photographs; and possibilities of new work coming out of it.
Launched in 2018, The IFA Archive is a space that holds the diverse materials of the projects supported and implemented by IFA over the years. The online archive currently holds materials for more than 372 projects implemented between the years 2005 and 2018, with more material available at the physical site. Epsita Halder is Associate Professor at the Department of Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She received a grant from IFA in 2010-2011 under the Bengali Language Initiative, for research leading to a travelogue on the songs performed during Muharram in various districts of West Bengal. Abul Kalam Azad is a noted contemporary Indian photographer and visual artist. He received a grant from IFA in 2017-2018 under the Arts Practice programme for the creation and dissemination of a body of photographic works centred on the men of Poompuhar in south Tamil Nadu.
