The Launch of The IFA Archive
Thursday, October 25, 2018 | 07:30 PM onwards | Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan
No 716, CMH Road, Indiranagar 1st Stage, Bangalore - 560 038
Since 1995, IFA has supported over 540 arts and culture projects...
a book on Homai Vyarawalla, India's first woman press photographer | a festival enlivening
the historic neighbourhood of Chitpur in Kolkata | a conference evoking Urdu and its many lives in
popular culture | integrating classroom education with local cultural practices across Karnataka | a play
on the lives of mill workers in Bombay | composition of songs written by the women warkari poets of Maharashtra | the construction of identity of the Konyak Naga tribes through photography | a film on
the life of the mobile theatre in Assam | the discourse of dissent in the Natua Naach form of Bihar
Have you ever wondered where you could access and explore all these stories?
Over the last two decades, this material at IFA has grown to become a rich and valuable repository of a legion of artistic and scholarly engagements and reflections of India's lived experiences.
The opening of The IFA Archive to the public, in its physical and digital forms, will uncover this world of little-known chronicles and scholarly reflections on the arts and culture across India in a multitude of artistic forms and languages by practitioners and researchers.
Please join us for the celebration of the launch of The IFA Archive and explore the idea of the archive as a space for memory and history—with a Dastangoi performance by Kafeel Jafri and music by the Sarjapur Blues Band.
The IFA Archive is built with support from the Lohia Foundation.
Please join us for hors d'oeuvre and cocktails after the event.
