Roja Muthiah Research Library (RMRL), Chennai
For atwo-day conference to examine the role of the archive and its influence in shaping the history of early Tamil cinema. The conference will bring together varied stakeholders from the field like archivists, academics and artists. In addition to the two day conference, RMRL also plans to publish the papers that will be presented at the conference. Drawing on the rich visual material from the collection at the library and the conference papers, the academic publication will focus on early Tamil cinema. The publication will also have a complete filmography of Tamil films from 1930 to serve as a basic reference for further research.
2008-2009:
Association of Academics, Artists and Citizens for University Autonomy, Baroda
For a three-day, international conference titledArchiving Art Histories: Exigencies and Challenges in Pedagogy and Research. The conference will survey archiving, research and teaching practices of art history in Indian art schools. It will also help to devise ways of improving the state of visual archives in art teaching institutions in the country.
2007-2008:
Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi
For partial support of a three-day, international conference titled Reviewing Disciplinary Agendas in Theatre Studies: Cultural Arenas, Policies, Institutions, which will address a crucial phase in the history of theatrical activity (1930-1970) in India. The proceedings of the conference will be published.
