2020 is a milestone year for IFA as we complete 25 years of grantmaking! In a year like no other when the COVID-19 pandemic is looming over all of us, we need your passionate support more than ever to continue our work and reach the next milestone.
Join us at our first-ever online fundraiser in support of IFA - a Story Reading session by Motley. It will be held on August 22, 2020, which also coincides with IFA's first fundraiser by Motley hosted in 2003, marking 17 years of working together.
Ismat Chughtai never wrote a typical boy-meets-girl story or a tale of thwarted love ever. So, this title may seem a bit strange to those familiar with her work. The three stories presented under Teen Ishqiya Afsaane are, in fact, love stories with a difference - of the imaginary, obsessive and unquestioningly devoted kind of love.
The live dramatised reading will be held on zoom.
Nivala (The Morsel) is a whimsical take on life in a big city. This story will be read by Heeba Shah.
Hindustan Chhod Do (Quit India) is a tragic tale of epic proportions. This story will be read by Ratna Pathak Shah.
Jadein (Roots) is about the unbreakable bond between a person and home. This story will be read by Naseeruddin Shah.
By joining us at the session, you will be contributing towards securing a future for the arts in the country. As we face perhaps the biggest challenge of our lifetimes during the COVID-19 pandemic, we at IFA need your support to enable artists to sustain their work, help them adapt to the changing world and support their experiments and explorations, much of which today will reflect and respond to the crisis we are currently facing.
Your donations through Donor Passes will help IFA to continue grantmaking, ensuring that funds are made available to many more artists across our programmes.
