SMART: Year 2018 - 2019
In this year, SMART evolved into offering a shorter, lighter course in hubs across India, starting with a three-day SMART Workshop in Pune.
Informed by the experiences of the two editions of the SMART Course and SMART on Wheels, where the SMART team visited seven cities across India to share the idea of SMART with local theatre groups and get a sense of how these groups practised theatre in their respective regions, the programme transitioned into a shorter three-day workshop, informed by the feedback received from the field.
The objective of the new three-day SMART model was to make SMART more accessible and sharper in focus for the practitioners to participate. Like the earlier model this workshop too continued to enable theatre groups to start thinking consciously about what they are doing; to identify their problems; not feel alone and sense a collective spirit; explore different ways of approaching problems; and identify opportunities. The areas of discussion was similar to the earlier model - Vision and Core Values, Group Sustainability, Audience Development, Communication and Resource Mobilisation, as well as Strategic Planning. Feedback was collected from the participants at the end of each workshop and served as internal evaluation.
