India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) is delighted to share that Arundhati Ghosh, Executive Director, IFA will be at Mumbai Local to talk about Gaps, Silences and Erasures: How the Arts provoke History, organised by Junoon and curated by Sameera Iyengar, co-founder, Junoon, on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 05:30 PM at Kitab Khana, Fort, Mumbai.
Arundhati will illustrate some of the ways in which the arts investigates, unearths, explores and reimagines stories that are marginalised, ignored, censored or expunged from 'history'. With examples from various research and practice projects supported by India Foundation for the Arts, she will explore how the arts enable us to enquire into our history and ask critical questions about the gaps, ruptures, erasures and silences within the trajectories of the past, as well as make histories in the here and now. The work will point to how the arts have the possibility to disrupt hegemonies of caste, gender, religion, race and sexualities among others, by speaking truth to power.
Please join us at Mumbai Local for an evening that promises to be provocative, eye-opening and wonderfully engaging.
Please note that while entry to the event is free, seating is on first-come first serve basis. Registration for the event will open on Monday, January 14, 2019. For more information, please click here
