For conducting theme-based museum education workshops for junior- and middle-school children in eight schools in Kolkata with a view to integrating museum visits with the teaching of history in the classroom. Following preparatory research in the Indian Museum, Kolkata, educational packages and multimedia presentations will be developed as workshop aids.

For the development of Correlated Objective Music Education and Training (COMET), a three-year professional music-education programme that uses technology to simplify the teaching and learning of music. The grant will also be used to develop short-term music education courses using COMET methodology, and for promotional and fundraising activities that will make the programme self-sustainable.

Centre for the Study of Culture and Society


Grant Period: Over two years

For developing an innovative, online graduate-level programme in cultural studies in collaboration with Kuvempu University. By designing new curricula, developing textbooks, organising workshops and offering online courses, the Centre will build new links with research and teaching institutions.

For a series of workshops by an architect for middle-school children in three schools in Kolkata towards creating awareness about built heritage, especially in relation to the history and culture of the city. Educational packages will be developed to aid the workshops and site visits.

Attakkalari Public Charitable Trust of Contemporary Performing Arts


Grant Period: Over three years

For developing and implementing a Dance-In-Education programme in Bangalore schools. The programme will introduce students from diverse economic and social backgrounds to contemporary dance and movement arts, train dance teachers and help develop a dance education curriculum.

Grant Period: Over one year and ten months

For research towards a manual on bamboo toy-making for middle- and high-school children, to be published in Marathi and English. Another component of the research would be workshops and teacher training programmes for schools in Pune district.

Mahendra Kumar


Grant Period: Over one year

For customised animation workshops for schoolchildren and adults geared towards training future professional animators. The workshops are expected to generate a set of short animation films.

Centre for the Study of Culture and Society


Grant Period: Over two years

For developing innovative syllabi and introducing new curricula and fresh pedagogical practices in cultural studies through certificate courses, workshops, conferences, consultations and lectures. The project will also generate a database that will contribute towards mapping the field of cultural studies.

G Raghav


Grant Period: Over one year

For research into three professional art schools in Bangalore, exploring the distinct modes of communication adopted by teachers in the classroom, and critically assessing Karnataka’s arts education policy. Apart from facilitating arts-related workshops and seminar presentations, research findings are expected to lead to a book on art pedagogy.

Kala Academy


Grant Period: Over two years

For establishing a research cell at the School of Drama, Kala Academy, to field-test existing syllabi for theatre in schools in Goa. The School will also develop its own curriculum and short-term training programmes for theatre teachers, apart from a manual on theatre pedagogy.
