Shubham Roy Choudhury has a Master’s degree in Film Studies from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and attended the Research Training Programme (RTP) at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta (CSSSC). He was Global Cultural Fellow (2017-2018) at the Institute for International Cultural Relations, University of Edinburgh. He has worked with the Department of Film Studies (2007-2011); The Media Lab (2011-2012); and the School of Media, Communication and Culture (2012-2013), Jadavpur University, in various capacities. He has taught film and media studies in educational institutes in India and Bangladesh.
Shubham has also worked with television channels and advertising agencies mainly in direction and editing, and has also acted in a few Bengali films. He has been closely associated with the Theatre for Experiments in New Technologies (TENT) since its inception. He was one of the editors of the graphic art magazine Drighanchoo. He regularly contributes to various academic journals and vernacular newspapers.
His special interests lie in sound studies, cinema, and new media technology. He enjoys listening to ‘space sounds’ for leisure.
